April is National Volunteer Month in the United States. This is a special time to recognize all those who selflessly assist organizations throughout the year. The Salvation Army Central Territory relies on volunteers to provide extra hands, knowledge, and skills that support life-changing programs and services for people in need throughout the Midwest.
For some families, the baton of volunteerism is handed down from one generation to another. Whether through bell ringing at Christmastime, restocking food pantry shelves, or getting involved in the music ministry, there are many ways to instill this important character trait in children at an early age.
