We provide Christmas assistance out of our Lynn office through the "Item Santa" program. Clients must apply in person at
1 Franklin Street, Lynn, MA.
SignUps: October 11-14, 9:00am-12:00pm
1) Valid photo ID
2) Proof of address in Lynn, Lynnfield, Saugus, Swampscott or Nahant
3) Age and custody verification documentation for all eligible children (birth certificate, school enrollment documents, court custody documents, medical records or other official documents which list the child's name, date of birth, and parents/legal guardians name(s). Children must be under 13 on December 25, 2016. The program serves the child, not the parent. As such, only custodial parents and guardians may receive gift assistance for their children regardless of who the child actually lives with. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, family friends, etc. that do not have legal custody are encouraged have the child's legal parent/guardian come on the sign up dates to apply directly.
4) Proof of financial eligibility (proof of current enrollment in SNAP, TANF, Mass Health, WIC, SSI/SSDI, LIHEAP. OR proof of income below 60% of the median household income for Massachusetts OR a referral letter from the child's school, physician, social worker, or pastor).
5) A written or typed letter to " Item Santa" briefly explaining the need for assistance must accompany the application. It can be prepared ahead and brought in when applying or written on the back of the application at the time of applying.
ALL DOCUMENTATION IS REQUIRED. Partial or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Upon approval of your application, you will be abl to select an appointment date/time from available slots to pick up your child's toys/gifts during the week of December 12, 2016.
