Things were looking bleak for the Harris family a few short years ago.

Both parents had lost their jobs. Expenses — including overwhelming medical costs for the mother and one of their three kids — were piling up. And there seemed to be no end in sight.

Harris FamilyThe family was living off of leftovers tossed into the dumpster behind a local restaurant when they turned to The Salvation Army for help. Through the support of friends like you, they received the food they urgently needed, and other vital assistance to help them get back on their feet.

Fast-forward to last Thanksgiving. The Harris family hadn’t been to The Salvation Army in a while, so when they showed up for the feast, it was a bit of a surprise.

The mother explained that after so many years of hardship, things were finally turning around. So, rather than coming to The Salvation Army out of dire need, they came for one reason: To give thanks.

“We are doing much better,” she said.

With Thanksgiving fast approaching, many more hungry families will be walking through our doors in search of help and hope. Thank you for your continued support!
